Bird rocks The Vogelfelsen is a rugged, clearly protruding rock on the steep mountain slope between the Saar and the threshold brook. The popular ledge is about 400 meters above sea level (gorge about 100m deep) and has long since developed into a much-visited lookout point. As early as 1958, a refuge was built above the bird cliff, which has since served hikers to linger.
