After the rain of the last few days, the Speyerbach is carrying a lot of water, so you can't see much. But otherwise it always feels wonderful to walk along the water.

An idyllic little park with a pond and a very tall water fountain – and a beautiful view of the historic "Königsmühle" building, a former grain and oil mill. This building is now owned by the "Camphill Lebensgemeinschaft Königsmühle" (Camphill Königsmühle Community) for people in need of physical and mental care, who live here in small residential units and on a long-term basis and work in craft workshops. The Camphill Lebensgemeinschaft Königsmühle is a small social therapeutic facility for adults with disabilities in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in southwest Germany. About 13 employees, 8 volunteers (4 of them international) and 24 supervised persons live and work here. The Camphill consists of 3 family-like house communities. The focus of life together is special attention, care and support for people with disabilities in everyday life and at work. The supervised work in the housekeeping, wood, garden or felt workshop. The working style and the way in which the staff is dealt with are familiar and confidential. The volunteers live and work in a house community and are active in the household and in the care of people with disabilities (help with dressing, washing, meals, etc.). If requested and agreed, they can also accompany the carers in their work in the workshops. Participation in the cultural life of the community is also required (annual festivals, games, etc.). The volunteers experience intensive support during their induction. You take part in the staff meetings and are welcome to the weekly further training courses on anthroposophy and human studies. The volunteers work 5 days a week. The weekends are organized like family: shopping, cooking together, excursions and hikes. The working hours are usually either morning to noon or afternoon to evening.

An application for a well house is known from the year 1719, after which the foundation stone was laid in 1721. This was soon followed by the expansion to a sawmill, which was operated with water power from the stream that meanders along the Königsmühle. After the buildings had burned to the ground during the Napoleonic Wars, the Königsmühle was rebuilt in 1860. It became a naturopathic institution. In 1888, the tower, which is still recognizable today, was completed and a restaurant opened. Despite interruptions due to family ownership and the turmoil of war, the Königsmühle remained a popular Neustadt hotel and restaurant until the 1980s.
