The cave is difficult to reach (below the path) and unfortunately not worth it in my opinion. Apart from the inscription in the sandstone, there is nothing to see and there is a hole at the top of the cave through which rain can get in.

The lightning tubes are a natural monument in the form of a mineralogical phenomenon in the sandstone wall below the Battenberg castle ruins. The Hohfels is CLOSED due to the danger of falling and falling rocks!

Absolute recommendation. I saw the flash tubes on ZDF's Terra X. So I wanted to hike and see them myself. Amazing what mother nature creates. ❤️
