Nice, narrow path from the B1 up to Poppenburg. From there you can easily observe the stork's nest.

All that remains of Poppenburg Castle today is an L-shaped building complex, most of which consists of a Renaissance castle. The building is higher towards the south and appears very tower-like due to the high roof. On all the walls you can see numerous window openings that have been bricked up or newly built in over the centuries. Today there is no trace of the eastern part of the castle. One encounters newer buildings here, which in the shape of a horseshoe give the castle a manorial character. History: The nobility of the castle was first mentioned in a document in 1146. The remains of a medieval complex can be found in the Renaissance castle. Today the facility is privately owned and can only be viewed from the main road or the bridge. Imposing, magnificent building that is already visible from afar when approaching. There is a nice view of the complex from the bridge. Visits to the interior and the courtyard are not possible!

The domain looks very paradisiacal in the green.

Always nice to cycle down here and stop briefly to take a look at the castle!

Agriculture is practiced on the castle grounds. There's a busy café at a side entrance.

If you have time, you should not just drive past it, but visit the domain.

The owners don't like strangers in the yard, the view through the archway should be enough.
