Hello @TS, your puzzle inspired us. Good thing we always have a headlamp with us! So we went through the gap and around the corner. There is no cave opening up here, but with a bit of goodwill a few people can stand or crouch here. But that certainly wouldn't have been possible for several days or weeks. On the other hand, there are enough hiding places in the rocks...

Beautiful red sandstone formation above Kordel. The small incisions and caves increase the anticipation of the Klausen and Genoveva caves, which await us on the 15th stage of the Eifelsteig.

Very nice to look at small cave in the red sandstone rock above Kordel. Certainly one of the highlights on the 14th stage of the Eifelsteig.

A bit hidden, but definitely worth going down and visiting this cave.

I have not yet found any useful "historical" information about the Celtic cave, but the following youtube video of two hikers shows how blatantly interesting this section of the trail is! Listen too! Depending on your own level of fitness, the route with stone up and stone down can also be quite challenging! The video is not mine and I don't know the gentlemen. But it fits right here. https://youtu.be/9CS-s1d8YFU

The evening is approaching and we set off again for a short time “to the mountains”, climbing the Kauley. Because you absolutely have to see them, you can also enjoy the view of Kordel. “Around Kordel you will find a variety of red sandstone rocks and caves, including the Kaulay, the Geyersley and the Spitzley. The formation of these formations has a long history: About 230 - 220 million years ago today's southern Eifel lay on the edge of a larger sea. [...] While the Buntsandstein layers were tipped up, the Kyll dug deeper and deeper into the tectonically moved rock. This strongly eroding effect of the Kyll and its tributaries also contributed to the formation of the rocks near Kordel. However, Geyerley and other neighboring rocks (Hochburg, Spitzley, Korpesley, Kauley) were formed as mushroom rocks with rock walls up to 30 m high mainly through selective weathering (resistant layers over softer ones)." (https://www.eifel.info/a -rock formation) The rocks, the almost organic formations are indeed impressive; we run over a loop of the Eifelsteig under the Kauley, then west around it and up.
