Pilgrimage Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers In 1794, farmer Ägidius Wolf brought back an image of the Virgin Mary, the Christ Child, and the Fourteen Holy Helpers from a pilgrimage and began building a chapel for it on Möninger Berg. He and his descendants maintained the chapel and continued to expand it for 80 years. It acquired its current Neo-Gothic form in 1884. It was consecrated on August 24, 1885. To this day, the Möninger Berg Festival, a pilgrimage to the Fourteen Holy Helpers, is celebrated annually on the last Sunday in August. The Neo-Gothic chapel consists of a nave and a recessed, three-sided apse to the west. An octagonal bell tower, topped with a pointed spire and resting on corbels, is set into the west gable and houses the bell frame. Source: www.wikipedia.de

The mountain church on the plateau of the Möninger Berg is open from Easter to All Saints' Day on Sundays and public holidays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Beautifully situated neo-Gothic church on a spacious plateau.

Here the view is overgrown. Further up at the summit cross and the bench it is much nicer.

The Möninger Berg is the westernmost witness mountain of the Upper Palatinate Jura in the Neumarkt area. It has always been a popular viewing point. The hilltop is crowned by the pretty little church, which was built in 1884 by the Möning parish and consecrated in honor of the Fourteen Holy Helpers and the Mother of God

It's quite steep here, in places... Good to know: the inn at Burg Wolfstein is "closed until further notice". Daces is also no alternative, better take a snack with you in your backpack! (Status 04/2023)

The Wolfsteinberg is a beautiful hiking mountain - albeit steeply sloping on both sides.
