Between Hohenberg an der Eger and Selb, the Eger finds its way through a valley worth seeing. This section of the Eger is of natural and mining history as well as ecological significance and was designated a nature reserve in 1989. At the end of the 17th century, the "Wellerhammer" was built near Wellerthal, the largest ironworks for miles around.
