In addition to the Bismarck bust, which once stood above the entrance but has since disappeared and been replaced by the Cheb city coat of arms, the building is decorated with ancient Germanic symbols. On the walls of the stairwell are 43 granite slabs with carved runic inscriptions. These add to the tower's mystery, but contain no mystical messages, merely dedications to Cheb's citizens, praises of Bismarck, and the anti-Slavic and anti-Semitic nationalist Georg Ritter von Schönerer.

The Bismarck Lookout Tower on the 641-meter-high summit of Zelená hora (Green Mountain) is one of only three such towers in the Czech Republic and the last to still bear the name of the former German Chancellor in its official name. The tower was built in 1909 on the site of an earlier wooden lookout tower and named after Otto von Bismarck. This was a time when Bismarck watchtowers, columns, and mounds were being erected throughout German-speaking Europe. There are around two hundred such structures. The other two in the Czech Republic are located on Háj near Aš and on Tanečnice near Mikulášovice.

On the 628m high Wartberg there is a small observation tower that used to serve as a signal station for communication. The view is limited, but it is still worth the trip.

The Kohlberg (632 m above sea level) south of Arzberg is also called the Sugarloaf. The 32 m high Waldenfelswarte observation tower offers a wonderful view of the surrounding area. Binoculars and panoramic overviews that can be used free of charge help with orientation. The Waldenfelswarte is the highest observation tower in the Fichtel Mountains.

Nice view, and nice and quiet

The Wartberg is a mountain with an observation tower at an altitude of 628 meters north of the village of Grafenreuth. The mountain can be reached from Gräfenreuth or Thiersheim. From the tower you have a beautiful view of the Egertal and the Ore Mountains. The lookout tower has the inscription: "Water of peace, quench the fires of war!"

In 1961, the 21 meter high Waldenfelswarte observation tower was erected on the Kohlberg by the local Arzberg Fichtelgebirge association. It was named after Ernst Freiherr von Waldenfels, who provided 900 square meters of land for the construction. In 2017, the tower was raised another 12 meters to 33 meters. This makes it the highest lookout tower in the Fichtelgebirge Association.

The original stone from 1865 stood on the summit of the Tillenberg. Today's memorial stone dates from 1985 and was erected directly on the border with the Czech Republic because of the "Iron Curtain". It can be reached on the border hiking trail.
