The quaint building is the old service cabin of August Ganghofer, the father of the writer Ludwig Ganghofer. It represents the family's forestry background and the forest that strongly influenced Ludwig's childhood. August Ganghofer was not only the district forester in Welden, but later pursued a career as a forestry expert.

The hut takes its name from the 7 paths that intersect - viewed from above like a star. Forester Vopelieuns built the hut at the crossroads at the beginning of the 19th century.
