The Lower Castle in Bobingen is a historic Renaissance building built between 1590 and 1600 by Octavian Secundus Fugger. The wealthy merchant Anton Welser had the palace built in 1544 in the rural town of Bobingen, just outside Augsburg. His son Markus Welser sold the palace and park to Octavianus Secundus Fugger of Kirchberg and Weissenhorn in 1590.

The front of the Hessingburg facing the park is characterized by various towers and turrets with battlements. The ground floor is designed as a grotto, and a fountain served as a source of recovery. The battlemented terrace originally had a ramp and was connected to the no longer existing roof by an arcade. Today, the Hessingburg is a listed building and is an important architectural testament to Augsburg's history. It is part of the extensive grounds of the Hessing Clinic, which continues to operate as a specialist orthopedic clinic.
