The "Red Sea" lies between the villages of Mensfelden and Heringen. In 2001, the Heringen fishing club took over the maintenance of the pond and has been looking after the facility ever since.

The former clay pits were recultivated (at the end of the 1970s) and converted into a leisure area - with a lake and a large playground. A nice park and destination.
