A sky pond or sky pond is a still body of water that is not fed by any surface inflow (stream) and receives its water exclusively from precipitation and groundwater.

Here you will find a very calm body of water, right on a course, after which it goes uphill again (towards the south) for a little longer, but only slightly. There are no places to sit nearby. However, you will find tree trunks on which you can rest.

The Brandsweiher owes its name not to a possible fire fighting but - like the forest and some other places on the Prinzenstein - to the knight BRAND VON WERLAU. There used to be a cultivated meadow here, but the "Gute Hope" ore mine required water power to operate the stamping mill to smash the ore rock.

Because of the route of the A61 leading through a depression, local streams run into a dammed lake, which, together with the drainage ditches, leads into a collecting basin next to the motorway embankment. From here a large concrete pipe leads to the source area of the Holzbach. A path (visible on Google Maps) leads to the lake. You can also hike around the lake in parts. Not quiet but nice here.

You can still see the fresh dredging work that was used to create several ponds on the Niederbach and to make changes to the watercourse. If that is still a bit overgrown, it will certainly be very idyllic. Update 2/2023: And indeed a very pretty biotope has developed!
