The name is once again misleading: Of course, the local hiker knows that there are by no means several lakes visible from this spot. Rather, it is the "good old Father Rhine," which can be seen several times, seen here from above.

The Eulenberg served with interruptions until 1975 as a basalt quarry. In 2005, NABU Rhein-Sieg acquired the areas. Today, a well-kept circular path leads around the lake and you can catch a glimpse or two.

A narrow path leads between partly steep slopes in the former crater to the shore. The atmosphere there is something special in every season. Everyday noises fall silent and the resulting stillness, the view of the partly rippled, elsewhere completely calm water surface and last but not least the imposing rock walls make this place (my) magical favorite place.

A nice place to take a break. The pond is currently covered with duckweed, the green color gives the pond a mystical touch.

"... The Annaberger Bach is a roughly five-kilometer-long, left tributary of the Rhine in Bonn, which flows through the districts of Friesdorf, Hochkreuz and Gronau. The Annaberger Bach, like all streams on the eastern slope of the Kottenforst and the southern Ville, drains the main terrace there, which consists mainly of Rhine gravel and is covered with a soil layer of the Kottenforst loam, which is referred to as regional. The pond southwest of the Rheinhöhenweg mainly collects seasonal surface runoff, which is dammed here under average weather conditions. The pond ("Senker Kuhle") was created by humans more than 100 years ago as a forest water body in the source area of the Annaberger Bach. The existing overflow of the pond is only very rarely reached, however. After crossing the Rheinhöhenweg, the valley of the Annaberger Bach begins, caused by deep erosion. In this area, the stream often dries up. The section of the valley in which the stream flows steadily, over the outlet of The stream, which carries water from seepage springs, only begins about 100 m below the pond in the source area. From there, the stream runs northwards, while the valley deepens and the water flow increases rapidly due to tributaries flowing out on the left. As it continues, the stream meets the Gieveningsbach in Friesdorf at the start of the residential area on Annaberger Strasse, before disappearing into the piping at a rubble and flood retention basin. It then runs in this below Annaberger Strasse, Im Bachele and Im Wiesengrund Street, until it joins the Winzerbach at the end under a pedestrian bridge. From there, the Annaberger Bach, apart from a few pipings, flows northeast in a natural stream bed within green areas until it takes in the Klufterbach at the junction of Am Schwalbengarten Street and Bernkasteler Street. The further course continues while maintaining the previous water structures past the former United Nations Square through the Grove of Nations Park (completed in 1994), until the stream is again channeled underground north of the Robert-Schuman-Platz subway station (drainage canal from 1974) and finally - changing to the west side of the A562 federal highway - flows into the Rhine at the Konrad-Adenauer Bridge. ..." https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annaberger_Bach

The Lohrberg, the third largest mountain in the Siebengebirge, offers a wonderful view of the Rhine from the Dreiseenblick, which, visible in three places (hence the name Dreiseenblick), winds through the valley below. There is a refuge at the lookout point, where you can take a break. An information board provides information about what can be seen in the distance from here. The gaze wanders from the islands of Nonnenwerth and Grafenwerth in the Rhine over the mountainous Eifel northwards over the Drachenfels towards Bonn-Bad Godesberg.

The Apollinaris loop and the Rheinhöhenweg also lead past this picturesque forest pond. A nice place to rest, there are several benches around the pond.
