The Kraft opencast mining pit is a quiet, natural lake or place that is managed by the fishing association. On the banks of the lake you can admire small remnants of the brown coal seam that was mined there decades ago.

Very beautiful shelter, next to it a memorial stone in memory of Harald Krug, a recognized conservationist. From the hut you can observe the bird protection and breeding area of the little grebe, marsh harrier, bittern, lapwing or crane through hatches. An informative board explains the post-mining landscape of the Bockwitz nature reserve.
