As long as the Bismarck Tower on the Taufstein remains closed, there's not much more to see from there. Otherwise, in my humble opinion, the highest point of the Sieben Ahorn isn't where the sign is.

The Mehlbach pond, which has nothing to do with flour or mills, because it has too little water for a mill and has never powered one, is currently being renovated by Hessen Forst. The dam is being rebuilt. For those interested: The Mehlbach is actually called Molbach, which comes from the Middle High German expression mol and means newt, lizard. Fifty years ago the first syllable was pronounced short, i.e. Melbach, or even Mölbach. That is why the old cadastral maps of the Grand Duchy still say Molbach. It's a bit of a shame that the original name has been parodied here out of ignorance. See the Lagis-Hessen State Archives for more information! I've attached a map section to the pictures. It used to be one of the ponds that had to supply the fish, when meat was still Sunday food.

The Sieben Ahorn is around 753 m above sea level. NHN the third highest mountain in the Vogelsberg low mountain range in the Vogelsberg district in Hesse. The Sieben Ahorn rises in the upper forest of the Vogelsberg in the Vogelsberg Volcanic Region Nature Park. While most of its summit region lies in the urban areas of Ulrichstein and Schotten, its eastern slope falls into the urban area of Herbstein and the northeast slope falls into the municipal area of Lautertal. Its summit is located 3.6 km southeast of the Ulrichstein district of Feldkrücken, 3.9 km south of the Ulrichstein district of Rebgeshain, 3.6 km north-northeast of the Schotten district of Breungeshain, 5.1 km west-southwest of the Herbstein district of Lanzenhain and 5.1 km southwest of the Lautertal part of the community Eichelhain. On the eastern slope of the Sieben Ahorn at an altitude of around 720 m lies the Geiselstein, a rock breakthrough made of nepheline-leucite basalt with a high content of magnetic iron. 2.2 km south-southeast of the mountain peak is the Taufstein (773 m), the highest mountain in the Vogelsberg, and 2.8 km south, the Hoherodskopf (763.8 m), the second highest mountain in this low mountain range. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sieben_Ahorn

The Nidda rises from a raised moor north of the baptismal font and southeast of the Sieben Ahorn at an altitude of around 720 m above sea level. NN. The source area is near the Niddaquelle hiking car park on the Hoher Vogelsberg ring road. The water doesn't bubble out of the spring here, but it flows. The point on the watercourse designated as the Nidda spring was originally actually a spring in the true sense. Today, this point marks a rather arbitrary spot on the still young stream with a steady flow: at most times of the year, the water can be followed a few hundred meters further uphill through the raised moor. Above the actual spring, near a crossroads, there is an enclosed outlet from a small well room. Parts of this stream flow out of the stream bed early on - not untypical for a raised moor - and flow into other streams. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nidda_(River)
