Unfortunately, the Manrother Lake is fenced off and the path leads along above the lake. Since a lot of it is overgrown, it is not quite as beautiful as I had imagined. It would be nice if there was a place to rest right by the lake.

The location of the lake and the color of the water are a dream. Absolutely recommended

This rainwater retention basin was created as a measure for flood protection in the municipality of Eitorf (located on the lower reaches of the Eipbach/ estuary into the Sieg) after a devastating flood devastated the central town of Eitorf in a very short time in the 1970s. Fortunately, there were no fatalities, but there was considerable damage to property. A huge wave of water rolled down the valley from the Eipbachtal. As a result, the municipality's flood protection was improved through numerous measures. One of them is this rainwater retention basin, which is intended to hold back the water masses that pour from the Leuscheid area around the Wohmbach into the Eipbach to a certain extent.
