Beautiful circular walk around the dam 🖖

Very nice place to stop for a break right next to the dam 🖖

Today I set off from the market square in Langewiesen for the Ascension Day hike, crossing Wolfsberg to Bücheloh and continuing to the river dam in Hayda. It was a very beautiful hike. It leads along fields and forest edges, then around the dam. The paths are mostly very good. Good, sturdy shoes are recommended when walking through the forest near the dam because of the tree roots.

Nice corner - could be used for a picnic :-)

Here you can hike or ride a bike.

Until 1920, the water of the Wipfra flowed over five national borders over a distance of only 40 kilometers. The upper section up to the town of Wipfra belonged to the Ilmenau district of the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, Neuroda belonged to Saxe-Gotha, and Neuroda was followed by the area of the Arnstadt district, which belonged to the principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen. The place Elxleben belonged to Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, Kirchheim to Prussia and Eischleben to Saxe-Gotha. However, the Wipfra was not a border river throughout its course.
