The Kickelhahn is a historic tower above Ilmenau, when the weather is nice you have a wonderful view of the Schneekopf, the same mountains and the Blessberg

It was probably here that Goethe wrote his poem "Over all summits is peace" in pencil on a wooden wall on the upper floor on the evening of September 6, 1780. The picturesque shed is therefore of great cultural and historical importance.

If you have time and muse and the weather is good, you should definitely watch a sunset or a sunrise. The view of the surrounding area is breathtaking for our low mountain range. Definitely recommended. If available, also like to pack the binoculars. One or the other detail wants to be spotted.

The "Stone 16" was considered missing for a long time and was only set up after it was found on May 18, 1994. Today you will find it right next to a charming refuge, approx. 1km from the Oberhof Rondell. Three significant information boards tell you the moving story of the naming of the Dietzel Geba stone.
