The numerous chapels in and around Großostheim have recently been supplemented by the construction of the Lourdes grotto in the Lengtal. It is a simple grotto made of field stones that houses the image of Our Lady of Lourdes. This grotto was built in 1947 by the nature and bird protection association in thanks for the happy return from the Second World War and for saving the community from wartime distress. In the same year, the sanctuary was inaugurated by Pastor Sauermann. During the annual prayer processions, church services are celebrated there under the open sky.
