The Rennweg runs through the Franconian regions of Bamberg, Hassberge, Schweinfurt and Rhön-Grabfeld. I slid down from the step castle in the deep snow - a spectacle, hopefully nobody saw me ;-) laughs now, but the hut was almost a little scary to me: winter, snow, no car, no footprints or the like. and smoke rises from the hut - I didn't stay long then ;-)

At the weekends it can get quite "tight" here, as the Berghospitz is often approached by car. Coffee and a good selection of cakes and tarts are quite tempting.

Until shortly after the Second World War, the predecessor of this forest workers' shelter was also used as a collection and storage area for the oak peeling bark. Today the stable shelter is equipped with information boards on local flora and fauna.
