At just under 20 meters, the Zabelstein observation tower isn't all that tall, but its gratings in the floor and on the balustrade create a somehow incredibly airy feeling. The view is fantastic. Even if you can't see the Main River itself, you still have a wonderful view of the Main Valley. On a clear day, the Thuringian Forest, the Gramschatz Forest, and Franconian Switzerland can be seen on the horizon. The tower is the great-grandchild of the first observation tower on Zabelstein. The first tower (1956-1978) resembled a 15-meter-high hunter's lodge. The second (1978-1999) and third towers (1999-2019) were also made of wood. The new tower, erected in 2020, is the aforementioned grating structure, framed by wooden struts that widen outwards.

On the plateau of the Eulenberg there is the Eulenberg Cross and the small hut where you can take a break. You should also enjoy the view, because when the weather is nice you can see as far as the Rhön. The information board makes it easier for us to determine the surrounding area.

Successful building with a great view.

A new observation tower (a steel/wooden construction) was built on the Zabelstein 2 years ago. You have a great all-round view and boards describe what you can see. At the foot of the tower is a semi-open hut with a few benches and tables that provide shelter in bad weather. There are also toilets in another hut.

From Eulenberg you have a very beautiful view of Lower Franconia. There is a comfortable, covered seating area on the plateau. Here you can take a break with the best view. The Steigerwald Panorama hiking trail leads over the hill.

On the summit of the Eulenberg you will find a summit cross as well as a small refuge as a snack and vantage point on Michelau and the surrounding vineyards. Distant view to Gerolzhofen and Schweinfurt.
