This rest area with a picnic hut is located about 300 meters southeast of the summit of the 487 meter high Ibrakuppe at the so-called chestnut triangle, a field path intersection.

The stop is on the former Gründchenbahn (opened in 1915 and closed in 1974)

We were happy to find a covered rest area today - everything outside was covered in snow

Residence of the then forest owner Zahn, who had offered his Eisenberg site to the Americans. The “Save the Eisenberg” campaign was able to prevent the project at that time. Today the forestry administration of Kambiumforst Verwaltungs GmbH is housed here.

This is the old forester's house in Wehnerts, the tanks certainly wouldn't have fit through this avenue. This building was also probably saved thanks to the “Save the Eisenberg” campaign; today you can rent it as a holiday home.
