The Grafenrheinfeld nuclear power plant (abbreviation: KKG) was in operation from 1982 to 2015. It is located south of Schweinfurt near Grafenrheinfeld in Lower Franconia on the left bank of the Main. Construction began in 1974 by Bayernwerk AG, and it was commissioned on December 9, 1981. The Retzbach, also called Retz, is a five kilometer long stream in the Lower Franconian district of Main-Spessart, which flows into the Main from the right when coming from the east.
