The Ruins Island was intended to represent the "venerableness of antiquity." Accessibility: Today, unlike Arion Island, the Ruins Island is not accessible by bridge. The tower ruins can only be admired from the shore of Lake Bagno. The best views are from the western and southern shore paths.

🏰 The tower ruin on the island of ruins is one of the most mysterious and photogenic relics in the Steinfurt Bagno. It is a perfect example of 18th-century garden design, in which artificial ruins were very popular as romantic mood elements ("faux pavilions").

🌉 The log bridge at Bagno Lake is one of the most charming and quaint relics from the heyday of the Steinfurt Bagno. It serves as one of two historical access points to Arion Island.

Danger always floats along Metelen/Heek-Nien... Summer temperatures like those of the past few days and the relatively good water quality of the three large lakes in the municipality attract many water lovers to swim. In doing so, they ignore bans - because, as Andreas Joost from the municipality emphasizes, none of the lakes are officially designated as bathing waters. The accident last weekend at Strönfeldsee (Heeker See) showed how dangerous swimming in an unsupervised place and especially on quarry lakes with their cliff edges and sometimes unpredictable currents can be.

The Steinfurter Bagno is a park near Steinfurt in North Rhine-Westphalia. It is part of the "Bagno - Buchenberg" nature reserve. A special attraction is the concert hall in Steinfurt's Bagno.

The beautifully situated Westphalian castle is worth a visit. The courtyard, which is very worthwhile, is freely accessible. However, bicycles must be parked outside the castle.

The artificial and then habitable ruins already existed in 1805. The island itself was created in 1788 as the first of the five islands that still exist today. The cascade was quickly extended by a steep mountain of boulders over which the water was supposed to run haphazardly. Problems arose due to a lack of stability, among other things due to two ice cellars built earlier, so that the entire cascade collapsed in 1804. Large parts of the rock cascade could still be found on the island at the beginning of this century, but nothing can be seen of it today.
