Nice piece of hiking with quite a few height differences along the river. Here and there a staircase, but otherwise mainly natural materials are used.

Beautiful hike to and around the Forstsee Römerschlucht is so nice to walk, but unfortunately due to the long-lasting hot heat wave, there is no splashing in the gorge

With children it is advisable to go in the opposite direction because the 1st waterfall (in our case the 3rd) is great for rocking, throwing stones, cooling your feet... suitable.

The beginning is unspectacular and the noise of the A2 is annoying. The further you walk, the more beautiful the gorge becomes. Connecting with the Forstsee or the Hohe Gloriette is worthwhile

Beautiful, wildly romantic climb over gnarled roots and rocks, pleasantly cool on hot days. Not recommended when wet!

I recommend the tour upwards, around the Ossiacher Tauernsee and the same route back. The direction of view changes on the descent, so go both directions (or what experienced hikers do - often look back on the ascent ... In any case, it is not a recommended hike for small children, as there are actually quite a few high steps. Otherwise only recommended in dry weather, otherwise uncritical and easily manageable for reasonably experienced hikers.
