Hermann-Löns-Weg (named after the "Heathland Poet") begins as a residential street at Hansjakobweg. The crossing over the Albtalbahn railway line is the only access for cars to the area west of the railway. The moderate car traffic thins out as one gets further away from the buildings. It then becomes an asphalted farm track, which eventually leads car-free to Rüppurr and Karlsruhe.

Another section of the Black Forest Cycle Route that's highlighted as a highlight. That speaks for itself.

Mandatory pedestrian and bike path (blue lollipop sign) between Igelsloch and Oberlengenhardt, or to the Schömberg cemetery. Good surface and just wide enough for two cyclists to pass each other. Unfortunately, in winter, from Oberlengenhardt onwards, it's quite a gravel pit with a risk of flat tires! If you drive directly from here to Schömberg, you'll be treated to a lovely view of the observation tower, but also a few disgusting meters of grass pavers on the bike path. This might be useful for the tree next to it, but not for the bike path. From the "Am Hohlweg" intersection, where it's all downhill towards Schömberg, I prefer to switch to the road. With a bit of momentum, thanks to the 6-8% gradient, you can easily reach 50 km/h, and on the steepest section, even 65-70 km/h (the speed limit), before rolling back into town at a leisurely 50+ km/h.

The ~10% incline is something you're used to in the Black Forest, but the psychological aspect is particularly challenging here. Because the route is relatively straight, you only see the endless ramp ahead, which seems to never end. It feels like you're making no progress over the 3km until you finally reach the top. Cars are allowed here—unfortunately, the width of the route isn't exactly ideal for overtaking—but fortunately, it's relatively rare for anyone to pass. I'd prefer to take the country road downhill because of the damaged surface—but it's fine uphill.
