Really beautiful

Always a very nice place to rest. When the pub is closed, there is usually coffee in a thermos flask, cakes on plates and a self-service drinks machine in the next room. It's nice that this still works on a trust basis!

At the foot of the Hochlecken between the Traunsee and Attersee, surrounded by forest, lies the Taferlklaussee. The hiking trail leads around the lake and offers a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. It takes about half an hour to walk around it. The Taferlklause was built around 1716 when the Aurachbach was dammed in order to use it for timber rafting with the Klauswehr. The dam was not abandoned, but continued to be used as a fishing water. The lake and its shoreline are now a nature reserve. The water is of drinking water quality.

The food is varied, regional, homemade and delicious. Outside of opening hours there is a fridge with drinks and a cash register. There is a small playground for the children.

A well laid out hiking trail leads around the beautiful lake. It takes about half an hour to go around it, with a constant view of the lake. There is also a small snack bar here.

Ascent to the Hongar with a gradient of up to 13 percent, great all-round view at the top.

Very good inn. Easy to reach via a forest road suitable for prams and via a somewhat steeper, shorter hiking trail. Especially recommended for hikes with children, as there are many animals to admire. A hiking trail leads from the hut to the Lärlkogel (approx. 20 min walk). View of the Höllengebirge. Further ascents from GH Kreh and from the Hochsteinalm hiking car park (both on Langbathseestraße). Further hike to GH Windlegern possible.
