Anyone traveling between Wannenberg and Wasenhütte simply MUST take a moment to reflect and enjoy this biotope in peace. Ideally, you should even repeat the loop two or three times – and the different light alone makes everything shine in a new light. Always impressive – in every season... of course, the mountain bikes are pushed.

This is the Winterihau biotope, and there was a small mistake. An obsolescent oasis of peace, a natural paradise. Always push your bikes—and take your time, lots of time. Walk through it a few times, looking for and finding hidden beauties...

In 2007 a family of beavers dammed the Mederbach. Where previously only a small stream flowed, one of the largest beaver lakes in Switzerland is now expanding. The canton of Zurich, the municipality of Marthalen and Pro Natura signed a forest reserve contract for 50 years in 2013.
