The start of the via ferrata can be reached from Holzgau in about half an hour. It is divided into three routes of varying difficulty levels, which can be easily combined with one another: the chamois (B/C), the ibex (C+) and the eagle route (D/E). A highlight is certainly the crossing of the roaring Simms waterfall using a total of three rope bridges. A via ferrata experience that is absolutely recommended!👌

What this highlight means is the Simms Waterfall. It can be reached through the right side of the valley via a good gravel path towards Rossgumpenalm/Café Uta, so you can observe the waterfall from close up. It was created artificially in the 19th century by the Englishman Frederic Simms through blasting. The waterfall is about 30 m high and is fed by the Höhenbach. There are many hikers on the route, most of whom want to go to the Holzgau suspension bridge.

From Oberstdorf up via Birgsau to Einödsbach. There great views of the mountains. Inn with terrace. Ascent possible with the e-bike, partly on cycle paths off the road, be careful, there are also hikers on the way, fast descent back on the road to Oberstdorf.

Depending on the weather, the short walk through the gorge to the waterfall can be very slippery.
