The mining area on the Ringberg has a special position compared to the other Suhl mining areas because of the copper ore, brown iron and brownstone mines. The mining path in the summit area of the Ringberg leads specifically to mining sites where red iron ore was extracted. The "Butterbrunnenstollen" with its sagas and legends is the most vivid testimony to historical mining in Suhl. It is also used by rare bats as winter quarters. (Source: https://www.ringberghotel.de)
