A very beautiful hiking trail goes through the Ruppenbachtal from the Heimbacher barrage up to Mariawald Abbey. The path is also used as the Way of the Cross and there are beautiful little saints' houses on the edge up to the abbey. The Ruppenbach forms several small waterfalls, especially over the winter. In summer the stream only carries a little water.
