Enchanted castle grounds with castle ruins and a chapel. A worthwhile photo opportunity.

Lehrbach – a small village with a romantic castle ruin in its center, set on overgrown private land – "Visiting of the ruins and chapel is permitted at your own risk, subject to revocation." It's worth a look!

In the first half of the 13th century, a ruin was created after the demolition in November 1646

Schweinsberg Castle can be seen from afar. Unfortunately, it is privately owned, so you can only view it from the outside. You have to turn back at the castle gate. But I have fond memories of the old Baron Schenk zu Schweinsberg, who used to often visit my parents when I was little. I don't know whether he lived in the castle, though.

Burg Schweinsberg

It is a wonderful place up here at the ruins of the castle, which was probably built in the 13th century, later converted into a landgrave's palace in the 16th century and unfortunately destroyed in 1646 during the Hessian War. I liked it here in the wonderful summer weather so much that I made two sketches to help me remember this moment even better.

The keep is freely accessible, an iron spiral staircase leads to the very top. The view over the nearby and not so nearby surroundings is phenomenal!
