Below the Weidelsburg is this large old quarry with a shelter. Stone was quarried here for the construction of the Weidelsburg.

About 500 m down the path to the west below Weidelsburg is the “Katzenloch” leisure complex, owned by Hessen-Forst, Wolfhagen Forestry Office, a basalt quarry that was closed down in the 1960s. The long-distance hiking trails Habichtswaldsteig-Extratour H8 and the Huguenot-Waldenser-Pfad lead past it directly via the so-called zigzag path. There is no reliable evidence of the name “Katzenloch”. However, it can be assumed that it was derived from the natural stone name “Katzenköpfe”. Very spacious parking lot with rest area and shelter

Parking for cars and good starting point for many tours.

From the east side of the Edertalsperre the very beautiful place can be reached via the route with the blue dot. Likewise the pulpit view of the dam of the Edersee. Ascent and descent are quite sporty for the first few meters. But it's worth it. Also because of the wonderful jungle of the national park.

The thrones on the pulpit are a nice idea - with a great view!
