The Gothic building on Violinenstraße was formerly used as a warehouse and residential building and is considered the most magnificent of the three surviving stone houses in Korbach's old town, as Dr. Medding describes it. Built around 1330 by a merchant, the property once consisted of the main house as well as a riding stable and a barn and offered traders fireproof storage rooms.

It is the largest preserved defensive tower of the inner city wall. It is one of the oldest buildings in Korbach and was built at the beginning of the 14th century. The tower was named after the noble family of Tylen, who lived in the immediate vicinity of the tower. Remnants of the battlements have been preserved to this day and have been partially reconstructed. In 1996, thanks to an initiative by the marksmen's guild and the generosity of Korbach citizens, the Tylen Tower was given a roof and a staircase again. For a long time, it was also used as a prison, where criminals had to wait for the death penalty to be carried out without light, on bread and water. The dungeon only had an entrance hatch. Today, you can visit the tower from the inside. All you have to do is get a key for the gate lock from the tourist information office in the town hall. There are 129 steps to the top.

The house was built in the first half of the 14th century as a fireproof warehouse for Hanseatic merchants. The Frisian fireplace on the ground floor and other features indicate that it was also used as a residential building. A special feature is the six-storey construction and the striking stepped gables. The house was a warehouse, a residential building, a youth hostel and has been the home of the Schützengilde 1377 Korbach e. V. since 2005.
