In the fourth courtyard of the castle in Burghausen is the outer castle chapel of St. Mary, also known as Hedwig's Chapel. It was built under Duke George of Wittelsbach and his wife Hedwig between 1479 and 1489.

In addition to its function as part of the castle's defense system, the Wöhrsee also served to operate the ducal court mill in the Middle Ages. It was used as a fishing water and as a source of ice. The mineral-rich water from a spring in the north of the Wöhrsee basin, today called the "Herzogbad", was used for healing and recreation during the time of Duchess Hedwig. From the late 18th century there was a health resort there. After the buildings were demolished, a Kneipp facility was built on the site. From the 19th century onwards, a garrison swimming school was operated on the Wöhrsee. From 1833, Burghausen citizens were also allowed to swim there. After the water had been temporarily privately owned after the garrison left in 1891, the city acquired the court mill and the Wöhrsee in 1901. Lake festivals were held regularly from 1913 to 1957. The previously separate bathing facilities for men and women were opened in 1934/1935 as the Wöhrsee family pool. The first German ice swimming championships took place in January 2015 on 25-meter-long lanes in the Wöhrsee natural pool, and the world championships in ice swimming took place in 2017. The so-called powder tower is part of the castle complex in Burghausen. The gun or battery tower on the Eggenberg probably contains the remains of a polygonal tower, which is suggested by the course of the defensive wall. In 1471, a "guard on the Egknperg" is mentioned. The current building dates back to the time of Duke George the Rich. The mighty building was originally surrounded by a double ring of walls with around six round towers. The originally steep roof was probably replaced by a much flatter one in 1620. A well in the tower was used to supply the garrison, from which all floors could be operated via cable winches. The clock tower with covered well house is located in the fifth courtyard (sixth castle courtyard) of the castle. The picturesque tower with striking clock and sundial dates from the 16th century.
