The Plauenscher Grund is the narrow valley of the Weißeritz River between Plauen and Freital-Potschappel. The valley was already home to several mills in the Middle Ages, but was otherwise uninhabited at that time. A watermill, the so-called Hofmühle (later Bienertmühle), was first mentioned in Plauen as early as 1366. In the 15th century, the fulling mill of the Dresden cloth makers followed. Augustus the Strong held magnificent festivals here; during the Romantic period, Hans Christian Andersen and Wilhelm Müller hiked here, and during the Wilhelminian period, the valley experienced an economic boom with the construction of the Dresden-Tharandt railway line. We've often been to the puppet theater at the Zschon Mill with our grandchildren. As a child, I was particularly impressed by the "Robbers' Cave." They said you could go underground all the way to Fŕeital. But we only made it about 50 meters before fear drove us back out of the shaft. Jörg

A very beautiful natural area.

The Fiedlergrund in Radebeul is an idyllic valley with a lot of history. Its stream, once a powerful watercourse, now disappears into the sand. Formerly known as Walthers Grund, it was a popular tourist destination with a pub. Today, a nature trail leads through forests and past old quarries.

Pleasant Omsewitz Valley with seating, nature, etc. Info. The name Omsewitz Valley has appeared in address books since 1935. The valley features an orchard, and an educational trail introduces the flora and fauna of the Omsewitz Valley as well as the potential uses of the orchard.

Very beautiful, rustic valley and not very busy. Going downhill in wet weather/with leaves is relatively challenging. Sometimes slippery due to the large stones.

Hiking is almost too banal, walking is more accurate here. I hadn't expected this on our second stage on the Lausitzer Schlange.
