At the back exit of Bateman's and therefore worth visiting even if you are not visiting the park and the house. We walked a very long way around the grounds - the only benches were here 😳

This reservoir has an excellent network of paths for a peaceful walk in a tranquil and nature-filled setting, with various little corners to discover. You can walk the entire way around the reservoir on its paths.

Yes, in the Rye Harbor Nuture Reserve there are always fantastic views into the distance, whether over the North Sea, over to Dungeness or Fairlight, over the lakes of the gravel quarry or to Rye.

Ashburnham Place was a fine manor house until the mid-20th century. The landscape park with three lakes was created by the grandiose landscape architect Capability Brown. Today the property belongs to a Christian community that runs a restaurant with highly recommended organic food. The homemade bread is also very good.

This is a wonderful place to hike, with huge skies, five bird watching hides, salt marsh grazing sheep, a visitors centre and cafe.The views across the channel are immense. Do bring a coat though as it can get windy.
