Slåensø Lake is located directly south of Borre Lake in the Silkeborg Sønderskov forest area. Due to the limited water supply, the water is very clean. The lake is situated in very hilly terrain and is a popular tourist destination, with Kongestolen (82 m high) located directly south of the lake, offering a beautiful view to the north. Denmark's tallest tree, a Douglas fir over 50 m tall, stands nearby. A good hiking trail leads around the entire lake.

A childhood dream Since 2004, Ry Nymølle has been privately owned. The owner, Benny Sølvsten, who was born and raised in Ry, fell in love with the mill as a child when he drove to the mill in a horse-drawn carriage to get feed for his chickens. After taking over in 2004, Benny Sølvsten had the mill extensively renovated, both externally and internally. In 2008, he moved into the main building, where he still lives.

Julsø (or Jul sø) at Silkeborg is the largest and deepest of the Himmelbjerg lakes between Ry and Silkeborg in the Central Jutland Highlands. As it flows through the Gudenå, it is also part of the Gudenå system.

Vestbirk Sø is one of three artificial lakes created in 1924 by the dam of the Gudenå River to power the Vestbirk hydroelectric power station. The other two lakes are Bredvad Sø and Naldal Sø. These lakes are located in a picturesque area known as Bakkelandet, popular for outdoor activities such as canoeing, hiking, and cycling. Vestbirk Sø is particularly renowned for its beautiful natural surroundings and is a great place for fishing, swimming, and birdwatching. The nearby Vestbirk campsite offers canoe and rowboat rentals, making it easy to explore the lake.
