Lots of walkers/hikers/dogs in Peters Canyon, so be prepared for a slow cruise enjoying the scenery. There are some very steep hills if you want them but they can be avoided if you'd like.

Cook’s Corner is a classic stop for cyclists riding through Santiago Canyon and one of the most popular biker hangouts in Southern California. It’s casual and bike-friendly, with shaded picnic tables and plenty of space to park. Grab a burger or a cold drink, rest your legs, and soak in the lively atmosphere—especially on weekends when it’s packed with motorcycles and live music.

Portola Hills to provide great hills to climb with nice views at the top. This area is a great place to challenge yourself and your uphill ability with some fun downhills as a reward.

Ideal for shorter, scenic hikes, Red Rock Trail in Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park offers incredible red sandstone formations, moderate difficulty, and scenic views. Stunning, though trails can be hot and dusty.

You can explore a variety of singletrack and wide gravel paths through the park. Some trails are shaded while others take you out above the canyon with vistas of Orange County. There are restrooms, picnic tables, and camping available. The park charges a $3 fee.

The ruins of Beeks Place are the remains of old stone buildings built in the 1930's by Joseph Beeks (who created the Balboa Island Ferry service in Newport Beach) to use as a weekend getaway. Located right along Main Divide road, it makes for a nice place to take a break and take in the views.

The Black Star Falls cascade down the rugged cliffs, forming a breathtaking natural spectacle. While the falls aren't far from the road, the terrain necessitates leaving your bike behind and continuing the journey on foot.

Upper Peters Canyon Reservoir also known as Little Peters Canyon Lake was built in 1931 for flood control, and for water conservation. The water storage helped orange groves grow in the canyon.
