The farm, with its fortified structure, was built on a medieval trade route from the Main Valley to Erfurt and a former ford over the Röden River. Over the centuries, the fortified structure developed into a moated castle and eventually a palace. Owners from the 14th century onward included the Coburg family, who, in 1451, sold the property to the mint masters of Rosenau. In 1600, the castle and estate were acquired by Duke Johann Casimir for 28,000 guilders and transferred to the princely chamber of Coburg as a domain.

The Roman Catholic parish church of St. John the Baptist in the Upper Franconian municipality of Seßlach, in the Coburg district, stands in the center of the town. The houses and the banks of the Main River in Marktzeuln are beautiful. The traffic light system, however, is completely useless for cyclists. That's why I usually cycle slowly and leisurely along the sidewalk, ignoring the phases. It only gets narrow at the upper gate. Here, you might want to use the traffic lights as a guide.

The Goldbergsee is clearly visible, a great view.

The watershed between the Rhine and Weser rivers runs near Bad Rodach, more precisely near Grattstadt, along the CO4 district road. Here, the catchment area of the two rivers divides, with the water flowing on one side via the Itz and the Main to the Rhine, and on the other side via the Werra to the Weser. The exact location of the watershed is marked by a tourist sign on the CO4 district road, which points to the nearby town of Grattstadt.
