9월 8, 2023, Steamship S/S Laxen
The S/S Laxen is a Swedish steamboat located at the Siljansfors Forest Museum in Mora. The ship Laxen was built in 1899 at Gefle Varv for Nedre Dalelfven Fleet Association. She was used to collecting wood (wood hunting) in Hedesundafjärden. For this purpose, she was equipped with a steam-powered capstan winch with around 2,000 meters of wire. The S/S Laxen had two sister ships the S/S Östa 1898 and S/S Bäsingen 1905.

8월 18, 2023, Trunna Church
Trunna Church originally comes from Grangesberg outside of Ludvika and was moved to Orsa in the 80s. The ground on which the church stood was not safe due to the mine in Grangesberg. The then owners of the land where the Trunna Church now stands decided to gradually move the church and this is how the beautiful red church ended up in Orsa. How it got there is a story in itself. Every now and then old couples turn up who want to see the church where they got married; in Grangesberg or in Orsa (!) Trunna Church has large, beautiful windows and high ceilings. It is beautifully decorated with bright colors. The church holds 200 people.

8월 18, 2023, Orsa Church
The first stone church was built in the 13th century and probably replaced a wooden stave church. Around 1300 the church was extended to the east and then the sacristy was probably added. An inventory of the roof of the church found splintered pieces of wood that may date from around 1300, when the sacristy was built. In the middle of the 14th century the church was extended to its current width. At the end of the 15th century, the church was expanded to its present size, except for the chancel. In 1607 the foundation stone for a church tower was laid on the west side, but it was not until 1639 that the tower was completed. The current pentagonal choirs were added during a remodeling in 1752–1755 under the direction of master builder Petter Schulzberg from Västerås. Today's church tower was built in 1853 according to plans by the architect Ludvig Hawerman. The earlier tower from 1639 was demolished due to poor construction.

8월 18, 2023, Mora Lake Promenade
When we visited in August 2023, the lake was flooded and access to the lake promenade was restricted. Nevertheless, there was a lot to see here (old steamboats, fountains, old steam locomotives, giant Dala horses, etc.).

8월 18, 2023, Mora Church and Bell Tower
The church is situated on a narrow isthmus in the northern part of the town of Mora, between the northwestern end of Siljan and the Österdal river. The oldest part of Mora Church was probably built in the late 13th century or around 1300. It was built of gray stone and consisted of a nave, narrower chancels and a sacristy. Around the year 1400 the church was extended to the west and at the end of the 15th century another part was added - a rectangular hall church with three naves and a vaulted roof. A little later, an armory was also added in the south. In 1581 a strong west tower was built, probably with a high spire at the top. From the oldest part of the church, some wall sections have been preserved, such as the north wall of the nave and parts of the east and west walls of the sacristy.

8월 18, 2023, Orsasjön Lake Viewing Platform
From the viewing platform you not only have a great view of the lake but also of the waterfowl of the nearby nature reserve. In the meantime, with a bit of luck, an Inlandsbanen railcar will pass on the rails right next to the viewing platform.

8월 17, 2023, Våmhus Church
Today's stone church in the late Gustavian style was built in 1780 - 1794 about a hundred meters north-west of the former chapel. The cornerstone was laid in 1771-1773, but work was stopped and only resumed in 1780. The church was commissioned in 1789 and completed in 1794, when it was also consecrated. The church building consists of a rectangular nave with a straight choir in the east. East of the sanctuary is a three-sided sacristy the width of the nave. To the west is a square steeple with an octagonal top and onion-shaped roof. The main entrance is on the ground floor of the tower. Another entrance is in the middle of the south side of the nave. The nave has a mansard roof that is hipped to the east over the sacristy. The interior ceiling of the church has a wooden barrel vault, which was decoratively renewed during a restoration in the 1950s.

6월 7, 2023, Finish Vasaloppet
This is what the participants of the Vasaloppet do it all for: to finish in Mora, under this arch. In Swedish it says: 'I fäders spår för framtids segrar'. In other words: in the footsteps of our ancestors, for future victories.
