Castle visitors should park here at the entrance to Greifenstein. There's a large gravel parking lot, a rest area, and information boards about hiking routes. The parking lot is at the entrance to the village, not at the castle. You still have to walk to the castle, folks!

In itself, a weir is nothing special in a stream, especially since the difference in elevation is only a few centimeters. But here, it's not just a ford for crossing the stream, but also a dramatic change in the "stream's appearance." Above the weir, it's a lovely stream; behind it, it suddenly looks like the Alps: filled with large stones and basalt boulders, the wide watercourse carves small channels through the masses of rock and tree debris. It looks as if a raging river is flowing into the valley here. Perhaps this has something to do with the function of the dam: regulating water levels.
