With the place name "Castel Gandolfo" the papal summer residence is still the first to be present in the public eye. But since 2016, Pope Francis has given up the complex as a residence and opened the buildings to visitors as a museum. An environmental center called “Laudato Si” has been under construction in the gardens since 2024. Very nice dirt road around the lake, sometimes it can be a bit busy especially on weekends. There are several points with coves on the lake where you can cool off and enjoy the view.
