Hakasuo Mill is a cultural-historical site of national importance. The Hakasuo Nature and Heritage Trail is located nearby. The framework of the sawmill building, which was once connected to the mill, is still in place. The buildings were completed in 1899. Grain has been milled at the mill for almost a hundred years. The courtyard features a campfire site and a wall with old Kainuu dialect vocabulary. Hakasuo Mill is also an interesting place for anglers. The nature trail can be walked as a 5.8 km circular route or in shorter sections starting from the mill. The trail is not easy to navigate. Paltamo is a 3.000 people town in Kainuu, Finland. It is a beautiful area for tourism, with an amazing nature.

It's pretty to look at in the sunshine. Surrounded by large areas of marsh burdock, it must be wonderful here when it's in bloom. The blueberries that are ripe now taste good too, of course.

The island is located in the largest finish inland water area. It is quite windy.

A moor lake in which the mosses are slowly reclaiming their habitat. It appears to be a raised bog that is fed by rain and has no drainage. Nature is very poor here and is home to rare animals and plants.

Ärjänsaari in Oulujärvi is a 270-hectare island with a very interesting mix of wild natural formations, such as sand dunes and steep slopes, and, on the other hand, a well-maintained forest in the island's interior. Owned by the paper manufacturer Kajaani-Yhtiö since the 1920s, the island was not open to the public for a long time, but was used as a holiday resort for employees and their families. When the company was acquired by the UPM Kymmene corporation, the new owner wanted to cut down a large portion of the older pine trees. However, protests in the region led to the State Forestry Administration purchasing the island in 2017 to turn it into a nature reserve. Those without their own boat on Lake Oulujärvi can travel there from Kajaani on the steamship Kouta or by boat taxi from the Luonnollisesti Oulujärvi company, which offers a variety of recreational activities around the lake. Near the boat dock, there is a small café, a charging station for electronic devices, and toilet blocks in the summer.
