To us passersby, such a millpond, as it presents itself here, may seem ordinary, but there is another perspective: For example, in the world of Otfried Preußler (1923–2013), who became famous for his imaginative children's books, it looks quite different: Here, such a millpond is also the incredibly exciting habitat of a family of water sprites. His still-popular book, "The Little Water Sprite," tells wonderful stories of the adventures experienced by the family's youngest members. On an audiobook CD, the water sprite mother sings her son to sleep: "Little water sprite, close your eyes and let yourself rest a little, I'll sit here for a while and watch you sleep. May your dreams guide you and touch you wonderfully, and when you wake up again, a new year will begin for you."

A wonderfully beautiful and quiet large pond where you can swim a few laps.

Wurzach Castle (1723-1728) in the city center boasts one of the most beautiful Baroque staircases in southern Germany. It is considered a jewel on the Upper Swabian Baroque Route. The elegantly curved staircase cleverly ascends a considerable height to the ceiling fresco, depicting an ancient heaven of the gods. The impressive painting centers on the legend of Hercules. Commissioned by the House of Waldburg-Zeil-Wurzach, it was likely significantly influenced by Italian artists. The castle courtyard is flanked by two guardhouses, the "Hohes Haus" (High House) to the west and the "Rentamt" (Tax Office), built in 1691, to the east. This wing also houses the old castle chapel, first mentioned in 1422. To the left in the choir is the tomb of George I of Waldburg, "Jörg with the pretty hair," who died in 1467. I was hoping for more from the city center, nothing special. At least there was some delicious ice cream from the local ice cream parlor, good for a quick break on the bike :)
