great beach for the dogs, parking you can follow the path along the coast

You can park up the top and walk down or walk the coast paths as we did,ground is very uneven and rocks get slippery bench half way down if you want to sit down and look at the views

Oddicombe beach has a long tradition: the colourful houses and terraces are evidence of the keen interest of visitors. We enjoyed the walk down - with every step you leave civilisation behind and find yourself in a natural seaside resort. At nine o'clock in the morning we saw people smiling happily after their swim in the sea.

The Paignton Esplanade is a great place to stay. Classed as on-street car parking, you are able to stay over in a campervan (car parking charges apply); its a great way to enjoy the Esplanade and the Pier at day and night time.

Ultimate local pub recommendation: The Hole in the Wall, self-promoted as the oldest pub in Brighton. It is said to have existed since 1540. Everything is a bit older here: the furniture, the guests (I was far below the average age) and the band. Live music was played. And how! Drew Millin rocked the pub, the atmosphere was extraordinary. So if you're in the harbor here, you shouldn't miss this pub.

A short run down from the coast path brings you to Antsey's Cove. So close to Torquay but the peace and tranquility here is a million miles away. The calm clear water is the perfect place for a mid run swim or paddle and there's even a beach side cafe for snacks. Brixham Harbour boasts one of the largest fishing fleets in the UK — more than 100 fishing boats land and sell their catch here. The fishermen sell at the bustling fish market on the quayside, which has a viewing platform so visitors can view the activity. You find plenty of restaurants, bistros and pubs on the harbour, too, all of which sell wonderfully fresh catch of the day.

nice view to the sea, The cafe looks a bit basic but you get tasty food here. The beach is rocks and gravel, there is no dog ban and probably you meet some friendly dogs playing in the sea (watched by their friendly owners)

Torquay harbour is also situated on the famous South West Coast Path, with short hikes to Brixham on the other side of Torbay and beyond to Dartmouth. The full 630 mile trek is the longest national trail, starting at Minehead in Somerset, passing through North Devon, the entire Cornish coast, South Devon, and finishing at Swanage in Dorset. The trail was the inspiration for the Bestselling novel The Salt Path by Raynor Winn.

A classic English holiday destination, Paignton's pier is brimming with activities for the whole family. It was opened to the public in 1879 and saw theatrical performances and other entertainment. Today, it's as popular as ever, with arcades, fairground rides, food outlets and bumper cars.

On the rocky tip of Hopes Nose you can see evidence of 350 million-year-old Devonian limestone all around you. Whilst the ice caps never reached here, the effects of the ice certainly did; with the melting and freezing of the ice caps causing the sea levels to rise up and down dramatically. As such, you can also see evidence of raised beaches in the area at nearby Shennell Cove and Thatcher Rock.

Berry Head is a dramatic headland with a lighthouse and a Napoleonic Fort. The area is rich in wildlife, including birds such as cirl bunting, guillemot, fulmar, greenfinch, and peregrine falcon, as well as adder, greater horseshoe bat, and myriad species of butterfly and wildflower. The cliffs are home to the largest guillemot colony to be found along the south coast of England.
