Lovely beach to stop at for an ice cream

Lovely walk, lots of interesting and varied scenery. We did it on a good November day and some short sections inland were very muddy

Popular with surfers and families alike, Trevone Bay has good swell yet a gently sloping beach as well as plenty of rocks and caves for children to explore. There are toilets, a cafe and a shop at the beach and just a short step inland Trevone has plenty more facilities to offer. It is a good place to park and run round the coastline to Padstow.

We've always done the hike the other way around to experience the highlights of the second part of the cliff hike. The original harbor is used for the village fishermen. A great experience to experience the joy of the fishermen from the fishing.

A tiny sandy beach which is only exposed at low tide, with beautiful rock pools and caves to explore. Once a fishing port, only one crabbing boat remains. A little family owned café and shop next to the car park serves lunch and snacks to visitors.

Remote, relatively unknown Cornish Cove, largely owned by Lord St Levan (of St Micheal's Mount). Located just under 3 miles south east of Lands End. There is a small beach at low tide with an array of interesting rock pools and caves. There are many reminders of Porthgwarra's fishing past.

Daniel Gumb was a local man who carved a cave into the rock for he and his family to live in so he could avoid paying taxes. He was a mathematician and an astronomer and carved patterns into the rock which you can still see. Sadly this isn't his cave, dug in the early 1700s but a memorial to him created by local stone workers when his cave was destroyed by mining in the quarry. Daniel Gumb lived here until he died age 70. He had 13 children and three wives, a large number of people to fit in a cave of just 9m by 4m.

The Devil's Frying Pan was formed from the collapsed roof of a sea cave that left behind this fantastic rock arch.

A great beach with awesome views

For Poldark fans, this was the beach used as Nampara Cove for the popular BBC series. The cliffs above are where Ross was frequently seen riding his horse. Although small where Porthcothan Bay meets land, at low tide it widens out to reveal a network of coves and caves at either end of the beach. There are public toilets, plus a shop and lifeguard cover during the summer (May to September).
