    From the footpath you can peer up to the bridge linking The Island with the mainland and gaze down upon Merlin's Cave. There is a carving of Merlin's face on the left of the entrance. Legend has it that Merlin carried the baby King Arthur through the cave to safety. It goes completely through Tintagel Island to West Cove on the other side.

    You can visit Merlin's Cave, which is accessible at low tide, for free by descending a small path just before the castle ticket office. Please check tide times carefully if you enter the cave!

      Although not much remains of the castle, the site offers something attractive and a beautiful sight. You can relax on the beach, admire the play of the sun on the water in the caves or go climbing.

          Definitely worth a visit. Tintagel Castle Bridge is a footbridge over a 58-metre drop between two cliffs that has reconnected two sides of a medieval ruin.

          The original bridge between the island and the mainland was lost sometime between the 15th and 16th century.

          William Matthews Associates and Ney & Partners designed the new cantilever bridge to have a 40-millimetre gap in the middle that allows the bridge to expand and contract with the changing temperature.
