This is the site of Skirlaugh Rail Station, which closed to passengers on May 6, 1957, but remained in use for goods traffic until November 11, 1963. The platforms are visible alongside the rail trail.

Bettison’s Folly was built some time between 1829 and 1853 by William Bettison, a Hull-based brewer, in what was then his garden. All in pursuit of his desire to ensure his dinner was served on time. The folly is hidden down a residential street and well worth a detour if you’re in the area.

Very busy road at the end of the day when people return from work.

Good stopping point for lunch on your way to Hornsea.

The end point (or start point) of the Trans Pennine Trail, right at the beach front of Hornsea. Depending on the weather, it can be a spectacular viewpoint to finish/start or an incredibly bracing one!

The old railway line from Hull to Hornsea which is now repurposed as the Trans Pennine Trail. A traffic free trail where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the quintessential British countryside.

Hornsea Hub has a good value cafe.

Cab be a bit muddy

Hornsea beach marks the end (or the start) of the Trans Pennine Trail. It is a long expanse of shingle and sand and much quieter than nearby Bridlington and Scarborough. Its a popular beach for watersports with swimmers, kayakers and sailors often spotted. There are also plenty of cafes nearby should you need a bite to eat or a coffee.

This path is quiet a long one which is primarily under shade. There is car parking close by and a view benches to sit down and relax.

Nice Sea side town, if you have dogs be careful of the closed season

This is the old railway line from Hull to Hornsea, which is now the Trans Pennine Trail. You can see what I reckon are the old platforms for a station as there seem to be two lines that merge back into one.

The end of the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT) in Hornsea is marked on the seafront. Leading 215 miles (264 km) from Southport to Hornsea, the TPT is one of the UK's most famous coast to coast cycling routes.
