In 1957, master watchmaker and goldsmith Gerd Triffterer (* 1927 in Aschendorf/Emsland, † 2009 in Bottrop) began planning the carillon until it was inaugurated in November 1963. The 25 bronze bells with a total weight of 1085 kilograms were cast by a Dutch specialist company.
